Excursion

Participants are divided into 15 subgroups of four or five members. You will enjoy tea ceremony and city orienteering with subgroup members. Please check your subgroup number in the below table or on the back side of your nameplate. Time tables are prepared for each subgroup.

1. Asakusa — #Tradition, #Souvenir
  • Traditional downtown area of Tokyo
  • Senso-ji is the oldest temple in Tokyo
  • Nakamise provides various products including Japanese-style goods and Japanese traditional food, which are suitable for your souvenir

2. Ryogoku — #Tradition
  • Town of Sumo
  • Sumo tournaments are taken place at Ryogoku Kokugikan
  • You can learn everything about sumo at Sumo Museum
  • You can enjoy the Japanese traditional art ukiyo-e at Sumida Hokusai Museum

4. Shibuya, Harajuku, Yoyogi — #Pop culture, # Tradition
  • You will find some landmarks such as the statue of Hachiko and the Shibuya scramble crossing
  • Harajuku area is the center of Japan's teenage culture and fashion
  • You can also enjoy the traditional Japanese culture at Meiji Jingu
  • Yoyogi park is the great place for hiking, hanami, and other outdoor activities

  • Shinjuku station is the world's busiest station with a very complicated structure like a labyrinth
  • You can find many skyscrapers, including Tokyo Metropolitan Government building
  • Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden is one of the most famous and popular gardens in Tokyo

  • Tokyo Tower is the landmark of Tokyo
  • Zojo-ji temple is the mausoleum of the Tokugawa shogun family
  • Shiba Park is one of the oldest parks in Japan. You can enjoy the best scenery of Tokyo Tower from Shiba Park

8. Tokyo Station area — #Business district, #Skyscrapers
  • Enjoy walking around Kokyo Gaien National Garden, the outer garden of Imperial Palace

  • Ginza is one of the famous upmarket shopping, dining and entertainment.
  • You can learn the traditional dance-drama Kabuki at Kabukiza
