In this excursion, you will experience both Japanese traditions and pop cultures by two sets of the activities, the tea ceremony and the city orienteering.
For participants in this excursion, please refer to this web page for the details and schedule.
1) Tea Ceremony
The tea ceremony is a Japanese traditional culture with 800 years of history. In this excursion, you will enjoy a hearty cup of green tea from tea masters and try to make tea by yourself in a traditional manner. We hold the tea ceremony in a Japanese-style guest house, "Kaitoku-kan", which was established about 110 years ago for a visit of the Emperor Meiji and his family. You may feel Japanese spirits of "omotenashi" (hospitality in Japanese) and the beauty through the experience of the tea ceremony.
(You will receive your own tea cup for the tea ceremony that is covered by the excursion fee.)
2) City Orienteering
There are a lot of tourist attractions in the megalopolis Tokyo–traditional cultures, pop cultures, beautiful views, punctual (with a ~30 sec accuracy) subway/metro systems, and so on. You will enjoy the orienteering, traveling around Tokyo urban areas in a group with ~5-6 members. Don't worry. You don't need to compete with the other groups to reach the check points as many/early as possible. Just relax. Instead, your group has a mission of taking group photos in every famous hot spot. The best fun photos will be prized during the banquet.
(You can visit, for examples: Asakusa, Akihabara, Ueno, Shinjuku, Shibuya etc. We will provide the information, and you and your group members can make a decision where you want to go.)
